Ten Easy Ways to Whittle Your Waist
                                by Lauren Casey, MS

Are you carrying an extra ten pounds after your last dieting
disaster?  Don't give up.  You have the power to create a lighter, healthier new you.  Here are a few helpful hits to start you on your way.

1.  Water down your appetite.  Drink a glass of purified water whenever you feel ravenous.  If thirst is misrepresenting itself as hunger, the water may wet your whistle without widening your waist.
2.    Minimize your plate size.  Reducing serving dish sizes encourages the selection of
smaller portions as less looks like more.
3.    Snack smart.  Select low calorie, low fat nibbles to curb cravings between meals.
4.    Slenderize your salads.  Spritz your veggies with vinegar and spice up your greens with
salsa.  Choose to lose with sensational low fat, low calorie dressings.
5.    De-fat your dairy.  Forgo the fat by selecting skim over whole milk to save 65 calories
and 8 grams of fat per 8 ounce serving.
6.    Retire the fryer.  Relish the flavor of lower fat broiled and baked foods.  You'll cut
       calories without sacrificing taste.
7.    Feel a little fruity.  Savor the flavor of sweet melons, tangy tangerines and plump plums.         Satisfying your sweet tooth with fabulous fruits increases your vitamin C intake while
       supporting your immune system.
8.    Say no to seconds.  Slowly sip an after dinner herbal tea and allow your appetite time to
       adjust to your intake.

9.    Adjust your attitude.  Eat to live, don't live to eat.*
10.   Think yourself thin.  Educate yourself on how to slim, believe in your ability to change,
        then do it!
